Wainwright CT Scanner

A message from Arthur Schwentner on behalf of the Wainwright CT Scanner Committee:

Prior to inception of this project I had no idea how many people require CT Scans in our area every year!
Our Wainwright Rotary Club and 2 other partners have signed an agreement with Alberta Health Services (AHS) to be responsible for raising 2.2 million in 3 years to get, install, and have running a full body CT SCANNER in the Wainwright Hospital. This would service most of a 100km radius from Wainwright. For areas Vermilion North and Vermilion East…. geographically Lloydminster should be a closer option, however, the CT Scanner is located on the Saskatchewan Side of the border creating a non-friendly user experience for patients trying to use AB Health Care cards in addition it’s a private Clinic.
Our Wainwright Rotary Club has a CT SCANNER committee as well we have our larger overall community committee for the CT SCANNER Project Fundraising which I serve on both. This later group is made up of 3 Rotarian’s, rep. from M.D. Wainwright Reeve and Councillor, AHS, Media, Department of National Defence (DND), a Town of Wainwright Mayor & Councillor, a local Rotary member Physician, and a local businessman whom has raised nearly 1.5 million in 28 years for various Hospital needs.
AHS said there would be no less than 3000 patients per year getting scans as soon as this project is up and running in Wainwright. AHS has already signed a deal with us to be responsible for the 1.1 million dollar annual commitment for the cost of operating, staffing, and maintaining this unit which is essential giving us assurance that this unit will continue to be a part of the health care tools utilized in this community. This also makes free from fundraising commitments to our group and our community after it’s in place. We signed a 3 year deal last November 2018 and our members and community have raised $500,000 so far. Numerous community groups and individuals are just doing things to raise money for this project and passing on donations raised which has been excellent to see these people and groups stepping up with support this fundraiser. $500k is Awesome but we still have a long way to 2.2 million.
If your Club, any members, any businesses, or any individuals you know would like to donate to this project, I’d be happy to answer any questions they might have and/or would love to accept donations.
The Rotary Club of Wainwright is a having a large fundraiser coming up on September 14th starting at 5pm where 3 Ex-NHL players (Marty McSorley, Bryan Trottier, and Jamie Macoun) are coming to a private facility for a Hot Stove talk, BBQ supper, and hanging out for the evening. A $500 donation directly to the CT SCANNER project gets you one of these access passes to this exclusive event in addition a charitable receipt will be supplied for your donation of $475. (We have to take off the price of the meal for your tax receipt) We are only selling 150 seats to keep this experience unique and memorable for those in attendance with these elite athletes.
Thank you in advance for your consideration and any questions are welcomed!
