When did the Land Use Bylaw renewal begin?

In the begging....

The current Land Use Bylaw was Amended in 1998, becoming Bylaw 01-98 .

In 2022 the Village of Edgerton along with the Village of Chauvin and the Village of Irma received funding through the Alberta Community Partnership Grant to update and rewrite all three Village’s Land Use Bylaws.

In early 2023 MPS (Municipal Planning Services) started collecting data on the current Land Use Bylaw and other related Bylaws.

On December 5th, 2023 the Land Use Survey was released, during this time Village Staff posted Posters online, thought our Social Media, and the regular posting locations around the Village. Posters and social media posts were made from December 5th 2023, until January 31st 2024 in hopes that residents would fill out the survey.

In February 2024 Council reviewed the feed back from the surveys.

On May 8th 2024, Council met and reviewed the First Draft after the survey and updates were completed.

The Draft of the New Land Use Bylaw was made available in the Village Office for public use and on the Village of Edgerton website by May 22nd 2024.

Advertisements as Posters (out May 22nd 2024) and posts made on Facebook, dating from June 11th, June 13th and June 16th 2024 were put out before the Open House on Monday June 17th 2024. The Village of Edgerton hosted an Open House at the Ag Hall in Edgerton where 6 members of the community attended, and changes were made with the feedback from those in attendance.

As we near the end!

On September 18th 2024, Council completed the first reading of the New Land Use Bylaw. It was resolved in this meeting that the Public Hearing should be made at the October 23rd 2024 Council Meeting.

On October 1st 2024, both the Village of Edgerton website and a push notification on the Village of Edgerton App went out for the Public Hearing on the New Land Use Bylaw.

On October 4th, 11th, and the 18th 2024, Star News of Wainwright had printed advertisements for the Public Hearing of the Land Use Bylaw, that was to take place at the October 23rd 2024 Council Meeting. (Advertisements needed to be made with Star News as it is a recognized Printed News Source.)

During the October 23rd 2024 Council meeting it was advised and resolved that the 3rd reading would be postponed until the November 27th 2024 Council Meeting. Giving the Residents of Edgerton more time to read thought the New Land Use Bylaw.
